The Marathon County Broadband Task Force has continued to work diligently with Internet Service Providers to expand broadband service in Marathon County. Through this work, the need for accurate mapping of internet service availability and current service speeds was identified. Marathon County has partnered with the North Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission on a regional internet speed testing initiative. This initiative will gather data about the availability and speed of internet service, including identifying locations that lack such service. The results of the speed tests will ultimately assist the Broadband Task Force in identifying unserved and underserved areas in Marathon County and further illustrate the need when applying for grants and various other funding sources.
